Two ''slave tiles'' with scalloped tops and applied designs 8''h. 8''w. and a brick from Kansas City stamped ''Don't Spit on Sidewalk'' 4.25''h. 9''l. Ex Jack Adamson (Ohio). Slave tiles were reputedly made by slaves in Georgia to serve as either garden borders or grave markers. The brick was part of a public health campaign by Dr. Samuel Crumbine a member of the Kansas State Board of Health in the early 20th century.

As a result top alone is pictured in Zoar Furniture 1817-1898 A Preliminary Study pg. 78. Sold at Garth's September 3/4 1999 lot 601. Correction: the top is not pictured in the Zoar book; the cupboard top on page 78 also sold in the same 1999 auction. However on page 72 (plate 89) is a base to another cupboard that is stylistically similar.
